Notarization and commissioning are methods of verifying the authenticity and validity of documents. In Alberta, both notaries public and commissioners for oaths are authorized to administer oaths and affirmations, as well as witness signatures on documents. Notary publics, also, have the authority to certify copies of documents as true copies of the original.
- Statutory declarations and affidavits
- Contracts and agreements

- Oaths and affirmations
- Letters of invitation
- Real estate documents
- Travel letters
- Certifications of true copies
